THE WORLD BEYOND MY MIND
A Film by Eibe Maleen Krebs

99 MIN

28-year-old Sven has been living in a nursing home for several years. He suffers from muscular dystrophy and knows that he will soon die. As Sven’s need for care increases, he is assigned a personal care assistant. Christoph is bursting with enthusiasm and wants to help people who are ill. Although Sven cannot move without help, he has created a microcosm in the care home, which he manages with confidence. Christoph can hardly do anything for him and Sven’s humour seems strange and threatening to him. Over time, however, he allows himself to be carried away by Sven’s charm and a genuine friendship develops. The film, which is based on a true story and covers a period of two weeks, thematises the question of the validity of right and wrong against the backdrop of extreme life circumstances. Above all, however, the film tells the story of a friendship between two outsiders.
