Bis zu ihrem Filmstudium an der Hamburg Media School, arbeitete Verena Gräfe-Höft als freie Journalistin für verschiedene Radio- und TV-Sender und absolvierte ein Volontariat. Als Autorin realisierte sie mehrere Auslandsreportagen für verschiedene Sender. Parallel studierte sie an der Universität Hamburg “Amerikanische Literatur und Kulturwissenschaft”, “Journalistik“ und „Ethnologie“. Mit ihren Kurzfilmen gewann sie viele nationale und internationale Preise. Nach der Filmhochschule gründete sie 2009 ihre eigene Produktionsfirma JUNAFILM in Hamburg.
Verena Gräfe-Höft ist Alumnisprecherin und im Beiratsvorstand des Filmstudiengangs der Hamburg Media School und leitet seit 2013 das Seminar „Produktionsmanagement“ an der HFBK im von Wim Wenders gegründeten Filmbereich.
Verena Gräfe-Höft gehört dem internationalen EAVE Producer Network an, ist Alumni des European TV Drama Labs und Mitbegründerin von WIFT Hamburg (Women in Film & Television). 2017 wurde sie von German Films ausgewählt als „Producer on the Move“ Deutschland in Cannes zu vertreten. Das Programm stellt junge Produzentinnen und Produzenten aus Europa vor, die sich in der Vergangenheit durch kreatives, internationales und visionäres Filmemachen hervorgetan haben. Für „Pelikanblut“ gewann sie 2019 beim Filmfest Hamburg den Produzentenpreis in der Kategorie „Deutsche Kinoproduktion“ und ist im selben Jahr ausgewählt worden, beim renommierten, internationalen Leadership-Programm „Inside Pictures“ teilzunehmen.
Until taking up her studies at Hamburg Media School, Verena Gräfe-Höft worked as an independent journalist for various radio and television stations, as well as completed a traineeship within the field. As a writer and editor she produced multiple reports abroad while studying American Literature and Cultural Science, Journalism, and Ethnology, at the University of Hamburg.
For her short films she won many awards, both national and international. After graduating from film school in 2009, she founded her own production company, JUNAFILM, in Hamburg, Germany.
Verena Gräfe-Höft, is spokeswoman of the alumni network and chairwoman of the advisory board of Hamburg Media School. Furthermore, she teaches the seminar Production Management at HfBK, in the film department founded by Wim Wenders.
Verena Gräfe-Höft, is part of the international EAVE Producer network, an alumnus of the European Drama Labs and one of the founders of WIFT Hamburg (Women in Film & Television). In 2017, German Films chose her as “Producer on the Move” to represent Germany in Cannes. The program introduces young producers from Europe, who have stood out due to their creative, international and visionary approach to filmmaking. For “Pelican Blood” she won the Producer Award at the Hamburg Film Festival 2019, in the category “German Feature Film”. In the same year, she was chosen to take part in the prestigious international leadership program “Inside Pictures”.
Biographie | Lisa Herbers | Junior Producer
Lisa Herbers studierte Film an der Screen Academy Scotland, sowie BWL in Hamburg, Nottingham und Taiwan, bevor sie 2019 zu JUNAFILM kam. Sie produzierte mehrere Kurzfilme, die erfolgreich auf internationalen Filmfestivals liefen. Als Vorstandsmitglied von WIFT setzt sie sich für mehr Chancengleichheit in der Filmbranche ein. Ein weiterer Fokus ihrer Arbeit ist Nachhaltigkeit und Green Storytelling. Lisa ist Teil der internationalen Workshopgruppe Storytelling ft. The Climate Crisis. 2022 nahm sie am Torino Film Lab (TFL) NEXT Programm teil, und vertrat Junafilm beim Hamburg Series Lab. 2023 nahm sie am Workshop zum Impact Production im Rahmen von When East Meets West teil und wurde für das ACE Springboard – Training Days NL, einem Fortbildungsprogramm für junge Produzent*innen, ausgewählt.
Lisa Herbers joined JUNAFILM in late 2019 after studying Film at Screen Academy Scotland as well as Business Studies in Hamburg, Nottingham, and Taiwan. She produced multiple short films, which were successful at festivals worldwide. Lisa Herbers is a WIFT Hamburg representative and was elected as a WIFT Germany board member in 2022, working actively to enhance opportunities for women in the film and television industry and to make their voices heard. Furthermore, she has a strong interest in environmental sustainability and green storytelling. Lisa is part of the international workshop group Storytelling ft. the Climate Crisis. In 2022 Lisa took part in the Torino Film Lab (TFL) NEXT program and in the Hamburg Series Lab. In 2023 she was selected to participate in the ACE Training Days NL, an international training programme for young producers as well as the Impact Lab at When East Meets West in Trieste, a workshop on impact producing funded by Creative Europe MEDIA and the MOIN Filmfund.
Biographie | Isabella Gmehling | Trainee
Junafilm ist eines von elf Unternehmen in der Region Hamburg, das für das „Get on Set“-Program 2023/2024 ausgewählt wurde, welches von der MOIN Filmförderung, der Stadt Hamburg und der Hamburg Media School unterstützt wird. Hier erhalten junge Menschen mit unterschiedlichem Hintergrund die Chance ihre Film- und Medienqualifikationen zu vertiefen. Isabella Gmehling unterstützt daher seit Oktober 2023 als Praktikantin das JUNAFILM-Team. Sie hat einen Masterabschluss in Film- und Medienkultur-Forschung und hat während ihres Praktikums am Goethe-Institut London Erfahrungen in den Bereichen Eventmanagement, Kommunikation und PR gesammelt.
Junafilm is one of only 11 companies in the Hamburg region that was chosen to participate in the “Get on Set” program 2023/2024, supported by MOIN Filmfund, The City of Hamburg and Hamburg Media School. Here young people from different backgrounds get the chance to deepen their film and media qualifications. Isabella Gmehling therefore joined the JUNAFILM team in October 2023 as trainee. She holds a master’s degree in film and media science and during her internship at the Goethe-Institute London she gained experience in the fields of event management, communications, and PR.
