28-year old Sven has been living in a care home for several years now. He is suffering from muscular dystrophy and knows he will die soon. As his conditions worsens, he is assigned an assistant. Christoph is doing his civilian service, is bursting with energy and has the honest wish to help Sven and the other inhabitants of the care home. But even though Sven is unable to move without help he has created his own microcosm within his room, which he controls. There is hardly anything for Christoph to do and Svens dark humor seems strange and threatening to him at first. With time however he is drawn in by Sven’s charisma and they form a true friendship. The story brings up the question of the validity of right and wrong in the face of extreme living conditions. But most of all THE WORLD BEYOND WITHIN tells the tale of a friendship between two outsiders.
